Royal Caribbean Independence of the Seas France Mini Cruise – 15th May 2018
Fancy a mid-week getaway to France?
This cruise on Royal Caribbean's Independence of the Seas is a great way to sample cruise life and see a slice of Normandy. It's also a great opportunity to see the new changes to 'Indy'.
About this cruise
The ship will receive a makeover this April so this taster cruise is a great way to try out some of the new features such as Sky Pad, a virtual reality bungee trampoline experience; the new Splashaway Bay waterpark; the new waterslides; laser tag; the escape room; and much more. Royal Caribbean are also having a go at making traditional fish and chips in their Fish and Ships poolside outlet.
To see the ship, you'll first need to board and that takes place on Tuesday 15th May 2018 at Southampton. Once on board you'll have an afternoon and evening to take in some of what this ship has to offer. Enjoy a spot of dinner, then watch a live theatre show, head to one of the many bars, or party the night away. It's up to you how much - or little - you get up to.
On Wednesday you'll dock at Le Havre in France. If you're feeling up for it, join one of the optional shore excursions to Paris. It's a slog getting their and back, but you get to tick seeing the city of love off your bucket list. Alternatively, check out the small city of Le Havre. Soak in the French culture before heading back onboard Independence of the Seas to immerse yourself in even more things to do.
The ship will dock back in Southampton early on Thursday. You'll come away from this taster cruise tired but happy, and you'll crave another (longer) adventure. That's my experience with mini cruises anyway!
The itinerary for this mini cruise is:

- Visit Le Havre in France, and take an optional tour to visit Paris if you like.
So you know, the map above shows point-to-point lines which may cross land. Don't worry, your cruise ship will not sprout legs and run across dry land. Instead it's water all the way! Mapping is approximate, and the scheduled times are estimates. Your trip is subject to change as, occasionally, operators have to alter itineraries due to bad weather or unforeseen events.
On Friday 2nd February 2018, I found a starting price from £259 per person based on two sharing the cheapest cabin (usually this is an inside cabin).
Want to compare this short break to a hotel stay? A starting price of 'from £259 per person' equates to 'from £129.50 per person per night'.
This price normally includes some meals but excludes drinks, gratuities, optional shore excursions, and any applicable flights and transfers (if needed and if excluded). If you want a cabin or suite with a view, these come at a premium (if available).
I regularly check for price changes by hand, but as they can occur rapidly, please use the link below to get the latest prices.
