About this cruise
This journey begins on Tuesday 28th August at Southampton where you will board in the early afternoon. As soon as you step on the ship you will slip into holiday mode. American hospitality makes this so easy to do. Besides, there is so much to see and do on this large ship, and everyone is keen to make the most of the short time aboard.
In the evening, it is full steam ahead to reach the port of Rotterdam by daylight. Enjoy your first night on the ship by enjoying dinner, watching a live show, enjoying a drink or two in the bars, or partying the night away instead.
You will have a full day in Rotterdam so the challenge is more about what to see. In Summer, the waterways are popular, with tourists seeing the sights from an army of watercraft. If you would rather stay on dry land, check out Rotterdam's thriving art and gastronomy scenes. If it is a bird's eye view you seek, head up the Euromast observation tower.
In the evening, the captain will chart a course for Zeebrugge, leaving you to enjoy the ship's facilities for another night. You will have another full day in Zeebrugge, meaning you will have plenty of time should you wish to venture into Brussels rather than Bruges. Bruges is the smaller of the two cities, and has more charm to it, but Brussels boasts more attractions. In the height of summer, both should be attractive cities.
A final night at sea follows as Independence of the Seas slowly heads back to Southampton where you will disembark early on Friday morning.
