Royal Caribbean Independence of the Seas France & Ireland Mini Cruise – 28th May 2018

Here is an excellent taster itinerary with a couple of ports of call and a couple of sea days to boot.

Royal Caribbean's Independence of the Seas will sail to Cherbourg in France and to Cobh (Cork) in Southern Ireland. Two sea days slot in between to relax the pace.

Sorry, the ship has sailed on this mini cruise and I'm sure it was a blast! Never mind though, there are plenty more mini cruises to choose from.

About this cruise

Many longer cruise itineraries feature sea days as ships travel large distances between ports of call. This Spring/Summer cruise features two of them, and if the May weather is kind, it might feel like you could be anywhere in the world.

This cruise starts in Southampton on Monday 28th May 2018. For most, Monday will be a miserable day back at work, but instead, you will be heading aboard Royal Caribbean's Independence of the Seas and setting into your home away from home. You have got a choice of cabin grades when booking this cruise, from the pocket-friendly inside cabin to the lavish suites for a real celebration.

The ship sails overnight and you will awake in Cherbourg, France. You have got a full day here, so head off on an optional shore excursion or tour the city of Cherbourg-Octeville yourself. Check out the museums, fort, and beautiful coastline, or stop in at one of its many restaurants for French cuisine at its best.

The follow day is a day at sea as the ship navigates from France to Ireland. Sea days are meant for lazing around. Have a lie-in and enjoy a relaxed brunch. Partake in the onboard entertainment or relax in the hands of a spa therapist. If you are feeling active, take to the FlowRider surfing simulator, the rock climbing wall, or perhaps the ice rink.

The next day's port of call is Cobh (Cork), famous as the final port of call of the ill-fated Titanic in 1912. Learn more about that ship, head off and explore Southern Ireland's beautiful landscapes, or explore this traditional waterfront town.

Rather than racing back to Southampton, another sea day follows, meaning a final lazy day before arriving back in the UK on Saturday morning.

So you know, the map above shows point-to-point lines which may cross land. Don't worry, your cruise ship will not sprout legs and run across dry land. Instead it's water all the way! Mapping is approximate, and the scheduled times are estimates. Your trip is subject to change as, occasionally, operators have to alter itineraries due to bad weather or unforeseen events.
