Marella Discovery Electric Sunsets 80s Weekender Mini Cruise – 1st September 2018
Some of the best music was created in the 80's. Now party goers can sail on a special North Sea mini cruise with DJ sets and guest appearances.
Sailing from Newcastle on Marella Discovery, passengers will enjoy three nights of non-stop fun on this music-fuelled cruise.
About this cruise
This is an adults-only cruise. TUI is only accepting bookings for passengers aged 16+.
The guest line-up is headlined by radio DJ Sara Cox with her 'Just Can’t Get Enough 80s' set. Expect a guest appearance from Carol Decker of T’Pau on Sunday, and Trevor Nelson on Monday.
Ministry of Sound will host the ultimate sunset pool parties with Adamski on Sunday and DJ Brandon Block's high frequency 80s house favourites on Monday.
If that's not enough, revellers can enjoy a Guilty Pleasures Party, 80s karaoke, and a silent disco. Exhausted yet? Kick back in front of some nostalgic 80s movies.
This is an all-inclusive cruise so includes main meals, selected alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, and gratuities. That means no nasty surprise bills at the end. You can, if you wish, purchase meals in speciality restaurants or premium beverages at an additional cost on board.
That's the action taken care of, but what about the stops? This cruise sails from Newcastle on Saturday and heads straight for party central at Amsterdam on Sunday, docking nearby in Ijmuiden. You'll have the day to chill out in Amsterdam's bars, restaurants, or cafes. Take in some culture at one of many museums and galleries, or take a must-do canal cruise. Amsterdam has a thriving shopping scene so you might want to check this out too.
Monday's port of call is Zeebrugge, a short distance from the small romantic city of Bruges. Walk through the large green park, hop aboard a horse-drawn carriage, enjoy another canal cruise, or sample some of Belgium's finest beers. Bruges also has its fair share of churches and museums, and in terms of shopping, it is a chocolate Mecca.
The party draws to a close that night and on Tuesday morning you'll end the cruise in Southampton.
This is a repositional cruise that starts in Newcastle and ends in Southampton. I've had a look and can't see a cruise line arranged option to return back to Newcastle. However, Southampton train station has link to London and beyond, and there's also a coach station for bus travel north. Bear in mind you might need to pre-book your onward travel and also remember to allow enough time to disembark the ship and get to the train/coach station.
This action-packed 80's themed mini cruise will be one to remember, and combines sightseeing with incredible parties and plenty of fun and games. It's an adults-only cruise so expect more grown-up shenanigans in the many bars and lounges onboard.

So you know, the map above shows point-to-point lines which may cross land. Don't worry, your cruise ship will not sprout legs and run across dry land. Instead it's water all the way! Mapping is approximate, and the scheduled times are estimates. Your trip is subject to change as, occasionally, operators have to alter itineraries due to bad weather or unforeseen events.
On Tuesday 26th June 2018, I found a starting price from £450 per person based on two sharing the cheapest cabin (usually this is an inside cabin). 4 days prior it started from £465 per person, a saving of £15 per person.
What's that per night?
Want to compare this short break to a hotel stay? A starting price of 'from £450 per person' equates to 'from £150 per person per night'.
Here's a trend line showing the movement of the lead-in price for this cruise. I aim to check prices daily and this graph shows only those readings. I love geeky stuff like this and thought it might be handy when planning when to book your next cruise.
In my last 20 checks, the cheapest I have seen this cruise start at is from £450 per person, and the highest I've seen it go is from £660 per person.
Are there any extras?
This price normally includes some meals but excludes drinks, gratuities, optional shore excursions, and any applicable flights and transfers (if needed and if excluded). If you want a cabin or suite with a view, these come at a premium (if available).
Cruise prices are based on supply and demand so the more spare cabins there are closer to the sail date, the cheaper the prices often become. After all, no cruise line likes sailing with empty cabins and this cruise sails in 17 days.
I regularly check for price changes by hand, but as they can occur rapidly, please use the link below to get the latest prices.
Remember, prices were correct when I last checked, but may have since changed. Prices are usually based on two adults sharing the cheapest available cabin.
