DFDS Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark North Sea Sounds Themed Mini Cruise – 16th November 2018 Themed

North Sea Sounds is back at DFDS again this November with the legendary Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark headlining this mini cruise in November.

Timed for a cheeky mid-November weekend getaway, this themed mini cruise is one all OMD fans should mark in their calendars.

Cruise ship

Oh no, the ship has sailed on this cruise

Sorry, the ship has sailed on this mini cruise and I'm sure it was a blast! Never mind though, there are plenty more mini cruises to choose from.

About this cruise

Fancy two nights of amazing set lists and a day in Amsterdam? Look no further than this Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark North Sea Sounds themed mini cruise. You'll see OMD in action and enjoy musical entertainment from other acts along the way.

Your weekender begins at the International Passenger Terminal at the port in North Shields, to the east of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Check-in between 2.30pm and 4.15pm ready for a 5pm sail away.

And so your adventure begins at the moment you get on board. Relax and unwind on the comfortable modern cruise ferry. Head to the cinema, grab a bite to eat, prop up the bar, or hit the shops.

The highlight of the entertainment schedule has to be Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark. It's hard to believe they've clocked up 40 years of experience performing their hits that helped shape the sound of the Eighties. Their influence extends beyond that decade though as the xx, the Killers, and LCD Soundsystem all cited Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark as an inspiration.

Even if you're not of an age that can remember OMD, you'll undoubtedly recognise their melodies as some of their tracks have been sampled and remixed in recent years. Sailing on the Seven Seas is perhaps the most appropriate track for this mini cruise but few will fail to recognise the classic track, Enola Gay.

After some sleep in your basic but comfortable en-suite cabin (unless you've opted to upgrade to the more plush Commodore or Commodore De Luxe cabin), you'll dock in Ijmuiden on Saturday morning, where a coach will whisk you into the city.

You'll have up to five hours to do whatever you like in Amsterdam. Take in some art, culture, history, sightseeing, shopping, or enjoy a drink or two. There's plenty to see and do in the Dutch capital.

Catch the return coach back to the port in the afternoon and sail back to North Shields overnight. You'll have another busy evening of live entertainment in store to look forward to.

On Sunday morning the ferry will dock back in the UK, where it's sadly time to disembark.

Hungry? The cheapest rate includes dinner each way but you can upgrade to a package that includes breakfast too if you wish.
