Oh no, the ship has sailed on this cruise

Sorry, the ship has sailed on this mini cruise and I'm sure it was a blast! Never mind though, there are plenty more mini cruises to choose from.

  1. It would have been great on the 27th October Mini Cruise on Ventura EXCEPT we didn’t dock at Zeeburgge – we just sailed about in the English Channel all day then sailed back!!!

    • Oh no, that is such a shame. The weather conditions weren’t the best then – I was on a ferry to Zeebrugge on the 27th and 29th and the winds were very strong with a significant swell, making for a very bumpy ride there and back.

Occasionally, cruise ships abandon ports of call due to severe weather for safety. If the wind or swell catches the captain off-guard, the ship can slam into the dock, causing significant damage to both the pier and the vessel. So for safety, they’ll normally either re-route to a safer nearby port, or if that’s not an option, swap the port of call for a day at sea. I’ve had my fair share of these, and it’s disappointing, especially when you’ve had your heart set on visiting a certain place. But safety for the ship, the port, and the passengers is the overarching deciding factor in circumstances like this.

Did P&O issue a partial refund or on-board credit to use on the sea day? Different cruise lines have different means of easing the disappointment factor.
