P&O Cruises Britannia Bruges Mini Cruise – 11th May 2018

Departing on a Friday means this Britannia mini cruise is an excellent excuse for a long weekend break!

Sail on P&O Cruises' latest cruise ship, Britannia, on a short trip across to Zeebrugge in Belgium, where you can head on optional tours to Bruges or Brussels.

Cruise ship

Oh no, the ship has sailed on this cruise

Sorry, the ship has sailed on this mini cruise and I'm sure it was a blast! Never mind though, there are plenty more mini cruises to choose from.

About this cruise

Britannia sails from Southampton on Friday 11th May 2018. The captain does the hard work while you sleep, so by sailing overnight, you will arrive in Zeebrugge the following morning. You will have a day to spend as you please before the ship departs, charting a course back to Southampton.

In Zeebrugge, head to Medieval Bruges or bustling Brussels on your own, or join one of the ship's optional organised tours. Key highlights of both cities include exquisite chocolate, beer, art, and museums.

Britannia is a modern cruise ship and boasts the best of British. The cruise line focuses heavily on food and drink, with plenty of familiar British brands available onboard. This family-friendly ship has areas and clubs for the kids, and quieter sanctuaries for those that do not like children. If the May weather holds, the pools should be busy as will the loungers with passengers topping up tans as best they can.

I sailed on Britannia's Guernsey mini cruise (same two-night break, different destination) staying in a balcony cabin. I also had the privilege of dining at the amazing Epicurean restaurant.

So you know, the map above shows point-to-point lines which may cross land. Don't worry, your cruise ship will not sprout legs and run across dry land. Instead it's water all the way! Mapping is approximate, and the scheduled times are estimates. Your trip is subject to change as, occasionally, operators have to alter itineraries due to bad weather or unforeseen events.

    • Cabins are equipped with a hair dryer which is similar to a travel hair dryer in size and power.

Departures on the Sunday usually start early, but breakfast is available in selected venues should you wish to grab a bite to eat before disembarking.

    • Ships usually depart Southampton at around 4pm – 5pm. Check-in will usually close an hour or so before then. P&O allocates a staggered check-in time (usually from around 11am onwards) and the time is printed in your cruise documentation. If it were me, I’d plan to be in Southampton by lunch time. If the allocated check-in time is later on in the afternoon, there’s plenty to see/do in Southampton to keep you busy.
