Royal Caribbean Independence of the Seas France Mini Cruise – 17th May 2018

Fancy a long weekend in the middle of May, but don't want the hassle or agro of jetting off somewhere?

This easy mini cruise from Southampton includes a port of call at Cherboug in France as well as a day at sea to do whatever you wish.

Oh no, the ship has sailed on this cruise

Sorry, the ship has sailed on this mini cruise and I'm sure it was a blast! Never mind though, there are plenty more mini cruises to choose from.

About this cruise

On Thursday 17th May 2018, head to Southampton where Royal Caribbean's Independence of the Seas awaits. You'll have an evening and the entire following day to explore this ship, which receives a makeover in April, so it will feel like a brand new vessel inside, thanks in part to the new features.

Have you ever tried bungee trampolining while wearing a virtual reality headset? What do you mean, no?! Sky Pad is out of this world, especially as you simulate a trip into space. I can't make promises about the weather in May but if it's reasonably warm then take to the new water slides. If you're taking kids, they'll love the Splashaway Bay waterpark. And if the weather is decidedly 'North European', the laser tag and escape room attractions will go down very well.

If all that sounds far too energetic, then relax as there's plenty of chillout spaces to enjoy. The spa is a great place to escape to, and there's plenty of bars and restaurants to work around.

On Saturday, you'll dock in Cherbourg where you can join an optional shore excursion or explore the town on your own. If you don't want to venture too far there's a Maritime Museum next door to the cruise terminal, although the town centre is only a relatively short walk way. See the sights or drop into a French cafe or bistro for a bite to eat.

You'll sail overnight back to Southampton where you'll disembark early on Sunday morning.

This cruise is a great taster experience as it includes both a port of call and a day at sea, so you can get a better taste of cruise life than on a two-night mini cruise.

So you know, the map above shows point-to-point lines which may cross land. Don't worry, your cruise ship will not sprout legs and run across dry land. Instead it's water all the way! Mapping is approximate, and the scheduled times are estimates. Your trip is subject to change as, occasionally, operators have to alter itineraries due to bad weather or unforeseen events.
