Cunard Queen Mary 2 Hamburg Mini Cruise – 14th October 2018

Taking a break from sailing weekly transatlantic adventures, Queen Mary 2 is taking a short detour to Hamburg.

Cunard's vessel is sailing on a four-night mini cruise from Southampton, which is the perfect opportunity to sample cruise life aboard an ocean liner.

Cruise ship

Oh no, the ship has sailed on this cruise

Sorry, the ship has sailed on this mini cruise and I'm sure it was a blast! Never mind though, there are plenty more mini cruises to choose from.

About this cruise

Your journey starts in Southampton on Sunday 14th October 2018. The likelihood is that the weather will be a bit on the grey side, but the atmosphere on the ship will be warm.

Tried and tested

Read about my trip aboard a Queen Mary 2 mini cruise and check out my cabin. I also took a peek inside a newly-added swanky single cabin.

This leisurely cruise includes two days at sea, before and after the port of call of Hamburg in Germany. So on Monday, you'll have a day to do as you please. If the weather isn't on your side, there's plenty of spaces to relax and enjoy yourself inside. After all, this ship was purpose-built for the harsh weather in the Atlantic Ocean, so there's much more focus on things to do inside than out.

Enjoy a traditional afternoon tea service, treat yourself in the lavish spa, relax with a drink, head to the planetarium, or enjoy the range of entertainment onboard.

Say "guten Tag" to Hamburg on Tuesday. Join an optional shore excursion to tour the area, or head-off under your own steam and explore this modern maritime city. Big brands line the shopping district, and there's a few museums and attractions dotted around. The city boasts an excellent network of trams, trains, and buses, so getting around is not a problem.

Wednesday is another relaxing day at sea, so have a lie-in followed by brunch. Head to the well-stocked library or discover the viewing platform about the bridge.

Enjoy your free time as you'll dock back in Southampton on Thursday morning where it's time to disembark.

Want more time in Hamburg?

If you'd prefer, opt for this two-night sailing from Southampton to Hamburg° (voyage M838B) instead, which also departs on 14th October. This is a great option if you want to book a few extra nights in a Hamburg hotel before flying one-way from Hamburg back to the UK.

The Route

The itinerary for this mini cruise is:

DayDatePortWhen
1Sunday 14th October 2018SouthamptonAfternoon
2Monday 15th October 2018Day at seaAll day
3Tuesday 16th October 2018HamburgMorning to late afternoon
4Wednesday 17th October 2018Day at seaAll day
5Thursday 18th October 2018SouthamptonEarly morning

Why choose this taster cruise?

  • 4 nights on Cunard's family-friendly ship, Queen Mary 2
  • Voyage M838C departs on Sunday 14th October 2018
  • Sail round-trip from Southampton
  • Spend a day in Hamburg and enjoy two relaxing days at sea

So you know, the map above shows point-to-point lines which may cross land. Don't worry, your cruise ship will not sprout legs and run across dry land. Instead it's water all the way! Mapping is approximate, and the scheduled times are estimates. Your trip is subject to change as, occasionally, operators have to alter itineraries due to bad weather or unforeseen events.
